What are PDO Mono Threads?

PDO Mono Threads are a non-surgical alternative for skin tightening and lifting. They are made of polydioxanone (PDO), hair like synthetic fibres which dissolve over about 6 months’ time to be fully eliminated from your body. PDO-based material has been safely used in surgery for wound closure for a long time. PDO threads are structurally different from the barbed lifting threads and can be freely applied to face, neck and décolletage.

PDO threads are placed superficially into the skin of the desired area to be treated after a thorough cleanse and application of topical numbing cream. Once inserted, they activate the synthesis of collagen fibres, resulting in a tightening and gradual rejuvenation of skin. The procedure has shown to improve fine lines and wrinkles, increased hydration and firmness of the skin creating a more youthful look.

A treatment session takes about 45 min. There is usually little down time but possible bruising and discomfort can vary between individuals. Results are most noticeable after 8-12 weeks and will continue to improve for the following 3-6 months. As this cosmetic method is based on the principle of collagen stimulation around the material placed, more evident Effects are usually observed with an increased quantity of threads used.
